• Build up in suit from Ace to King (for example, a 2 can be played on an Ace).

Tableau

• Build down in alternating colors (for example, a 10 can be played on a Jack).

• The top card of each pile is available for play on another tableau pile or on the foundations.

• Only one card at a time may be moved.

• Spaces may be filled with any available card.

Reserves

(7 cards, called the "Belgian Reserve")

• Any card is available for play on the foundations or the tableau.

• Spaces are not filled.
